Riley S. Wilson

A multi-hyphenate artist - I’m normally playing with words and worlds, writing and directing film and animation, constructing stories into books for children and comic enthusiasts.

I’m a graduate of Howard University School of Business and started out writing for Advertising Age, Creativity-Online, and Colorlines. My time at these brands was coupled with activities in film and book production.

In 2015, I wrote and directed my first sci-fi film, Orange Bright. Little Apple was my next major project, a sci-fi/drama series and comic book following an empathic superheroic Harlem girl. The TV series is the winner of the 2019 Best Web Series award at the American Black Film Festival.

Little Apple is now Little Apple Universe, an official Department of Education vendor providing TV programming and SEL/literacy curriculum to schools. I’ve continued working with brands over the years but my love has always been literature and new media.

I must say, I’m grateful to my chemist mom for inviting me to collect insects with her when I was a child, for letting me play with her chemistry set. My interest in children’s media, science fiction and insects is all making sense. Now I’m tinkering with butterflies in After Effects.

I can’t wait to see what I create next!
